Okay it isn't a real Twitter hashtag that I know of, someone used it in a response to something I said on Facebook a week or two back and I liked it.
Anyway, you may be aware of a Nazi piece of shit getting punched in the face during a live TV interview a few days ago, bafflingly it has spawned controversy, apparently there are some otherwise apparently sane people in this country that think it is not a good idea to hit Nazis in the face at every opportunity.
Those who oppose punching Nazis, and who aren't Nazis themselves, tend to use an argument such as "Violence is just stooping to their level, and encourages people who are moderate to sympathize with the genocidal maniac getting hit in the face".
The people are wrong, and terrible. It is never a bad idea to hit a Nazi in the face, unless of course you can't do so without injuring yourself, in which case you should hit the Nazi in the stomach, throat, or testicles, if they have any, alternatively find a tool such as a claw hammer, replica Anduril: The Sword That Was Broken, or cinderblock and then you may choose whichever target you please without fear of self injury.
I realize the above paragraphs are written in a comedic style, but while they are intended to be funny, they are not a joke.
Nazis do not deserve a platform for their speech, yes their right to free speech is guaranteed just as mine is, but that only applies to government interference, the average citizen has both the right and the duty, morally if not legally speaking, to let them know that their ideology is unwelcome in public, no matter who happens to be in the White House. This isn't a matter of attacking someone you disagree with over something like tax law, immigration, or abortion, this is someone who literally supports the ideas that dragged the world into the most devastating and costly war that it(hopefully) will ever see, an ideology that expressly calls for the deaths of billions and one with which coexistence is literally impossible.
It is not realistic to expect to convince a Nazi to change their views while giving an interview on the street, but allowing them a platform to speak to thousands or millions gives them a very good chance of reaching someone in a vulnerable mindset and starting them down that path. Disrupting any platform they manage to attain in whatever means necessary is the best way of fighting their ideology. You can't convince them they are wrong, but if you try hard enough, you can convince them that they should stick to posting on Stormfront from the safety of their grandmothers basement rather than going out in public.
As to the idea that it might convince moderate seeming people to listen to their rhetoric, fucking what? Does anyone seriously think there are people out there who watch this fucker get hit in the face and think to themselves "Well, this fellow expressing the genocidal views of a long dead dictator was cut off by violence before he could finish talking, perhaps the man has a point!" Of course not, anyone who is convinced to listen to Nazis after seeing one get punched in the face very likely was just a Nazi already.
They must be told in the strongest possible terms that their ideas and their presence is unacceptable, if we tolerate them, then soon enough they will be the ones deciding who is unacceptable, and people, they won't stop at punching in the face.
