Planning.

When in doubt, write about writing.

I was having trouble coming up with something I wanted to talk about today, so I decided to go through some of my older posts and see what they are like, I'll need to do this very thoroughly once I start my book project in the fall, but I wanted to get a sense of what my writing was like 422 posts ago(subtle brag).

It is traditional I know for writers to hate their work as soon as it is finished, but I don't actually feel that way! I do think I have gotten a little bit better, I think I explain my ideas more concisely and improved my word choice and so on. But I am still not embarrassed by that stuff, which is kind of cool.

I was embarrassed by my previous attempts at blog posts, I have had this blog for almost a decade now, and while I didn't write a lot in my previous attempts, what I did put down was pretty bad, so I deleted it all an started fresh. With any luck, no one will see or remember my shame.

I put the improvement, if it exists, down to practice, I am a better writer because I write every day. What I am not better at is writing long form work, the daily schedule doesn't seem to encourage me to put together a full length story all that easily, possibly my brain is telling me "You are already meeting a goal by writing, and now you want continuity? Screw you!" That's okay, I am still developing skills, and come the fall when I start the book I'll put them to use.
