In the last week or so I started two things that I had quit like a year ago.
First I started playing WoW again and exploring the Warlords of Draenor expansion, I like it, but it seems every time I play the leveling system gets dumbed down even more, currently the talent trees consist of choosing one new ability out of three options every ten or so levels, depending on your specialization there appears to be one option that is easily the best, one option that is fun, and one option that there is never any reason to take, I feel like they may as well take all the choice out of it at this point.
Questing and dungeon are roughly the same, nothing wrong with that.
There is one new feature that I like though, the personal fortress is fun, you get a choice of assorted buildings to construct which give you access to profession abilities you might not have access to and it functions as a quest hub as well and gives you the ability to recruit minions and send them on various missions for a number of rewards. It is very satisfying to me for reasons I cannot clearly articulate, but it's a good choice.
The other thing is Game of Thrones, I swore the show off after last season for what I still say were good reasons, outside of the sorta misogynistic atmosphere of the show, I felt like I was running out of people to root for and was getting tired of watching unrelenting misery. But the reviews of the season finally drew me back and I guess I am happy I did.
This is the first season that doesn't have a book to draw on so the writers have a lot of freedom now and there definitely seems to be a tone shift, good stuff happens to good people a little bit which is nice, and some of the outright villains are finding themselves actually having real problems, I appreciate this as I am a traditionalist at heart and like to see the bad guy beaten, though I know it probably will be another season or two before ultimate victory(or not) happens.
Anyway, I am having fun with both thins for now at least, and that is what matters.
