I am feeling better

I'm not losing my job, honestly I didn't really expect to do so but it's still a relief. Also doesn't change anything I said over the weekend, the very fact that I had a legitimate cause for worry is fucked, and the idea that a business owner can have an employee who is both visibly and audibly ill in his food service business and not tell him to take a day or two off is also kind of horrible. Like it's great that I won points with people there for toughness, but I don't know if my throat or my voice will ever properly recover. The fact that I didn't have the freedom, or the balls to insist on staying home last week to get better will be something I personally pay for for a while longer.

On a mildly amusing note none of my coworkers other than the man who actually interviewed and hired me knows what my voice sounds like when I am not sick.

Anyway, I am mostly better now, I still cough, a lot and my my vocal range is pretty limited, I can't talk loudly or for long without coughing and it's still a croak. But I don't have an elevated temperature, my muscles don't ache, and I haven't had a headache in days. So all in all things are looking up,

Really glad I put my resignation in at Levy though, I needed those days off desperately and it was  totally worth possibly burning my bridges with that company.

Speaking of Levy, I wanna talk shit about one of the stands at the Moda Center, specifically Sizzle Pie, now these guys aren't exactly Levy, they have their own staff and get help from ours once in a while, last summer I was part of a team that deeply cleaned all of the stands in the building and Sizzle Pie had basically the worst of the lot, rotten vegetables, funky surfaces, flies everywhere, weird gunk on the bottoms of their reach in coolers, plus a coating of flour on virtually every surface in the stand.

I complained about it, it was gross, and while the other stuff was agreed on, the flour thing was waved off as something that just happens when you work with dough. I am here to tell you that anyone who says that to you is a liar and not to be trusted. We make our own dough at my current location, and there is exactly one counter that is covered in flour, that is the counter we actually work with the dough on. the rest, floors, counters, whatever, is not covered with dough at all and is swept and wiped down constantly, because flour is pretty gross stuff especially if it gets wet, and so every effort is made to contain the damn stuff. We succeed too! I don't know a lot yet but I can tell you that the emphasis I have seen on cleaning is really reassuring.
Also I totally vindicated, Sizzle Pie is horrible and they are bad at cleaning, I refuse to eat there and encourage everyone else to do the same.
