Super Bowl Sunday

I have a bedtime now, gotta get this going to bed late thing under control and start actually being able to do stuff during the day, looking forward to it.

The Super Bowl happened today, and honestly it was sort of bland, I mean the game was fine, competitive, went down to the wire, the underdog won, all you could ask for, but the surrounding pageantry seemed to be lacking this year. One of the problems is that Justin Timberlake just didn't put on an interesting show, I look forward every year to the ridiculousness that is the halftime show, the costumes, sets, special guests, even if I don't normally like the artist there is at least something to interest me, but it seemed like they went out of their way to be as bland as possible this time.
Also he had a projection of Prince that he did a song with or something, and that was awkward because the dude is not Prince and really shouldn't even be on the same stage as his ghost. Also Prince's family specifically asked him not to do that too, which is pretty not classy.

The other reason people watch the game, the ads, were also lackluster, competently done, but outside of one NFL ad starring Eli Manning, there wasn't anything too interesting there and at least one, from Dodge, that was outright offensive, using Martin Luther King Jr's voice to sell trucks seems like a terrible idea no matter what you do and I can't believe no one in the decision chain stopped and asked "what the hell are we doing?"

All in all a mediocre end to a mediocre season. Game was good though, congratulations Philadelphia, you finally got one, and it couldn't have come against a more deserving team. Fuck the Patriots.
