On the other hand

Stupid shit like two week funding measures tick me off and are a great measure of how the Democratic party doesn't quite have the ideals they say they do, or the spine to make a proper stand.

For those unaware, the government requires money to function, this is done by passing budgets, however a real long term budget has not been passes so far this year so they have been funding the government using stop gap measures called Continuing Resolutions, or CRs, which fund the government for a short period of time to give them a chance to put a real budget together.

That isn't happening because the parties are pretty polarized, and to make things worse even within the parties there are factions that will and won't compromise with certain issues. The Federal government is pretty much stumbling along with the current situation but there is no end in sight, mostly due to Republican insistence on cutting virtually anything that helps people from the proposed budgets.

The point I am trying to make is that the government is pretty desperate to avoid a shutdown, and I can't understand why so many Democrats are going along with that, Republicans control all three houses and if they can't get something passed it is their own damn fault and it should be trivially easy to show that to the average voter, by voting to keep kicking the problem down the line, in a way the Democrats become complicit in the ongoing looting of America that the majority party is getting up to.

Right now the Republican party is finding itself having difficulty getting anything done without a filibuster proof reconciliation bill or executive order, they are also in the position of literally supporting a child molester in the Senate, it should be the easiest thing in the world for Democrats in congress to say "We won't work with you until you get your house in order, and here's why." But they continue to not do so, so now we have two more weeks to hear the same debate we have been hearing since 2016 or whenever the last real budget was passed, and nothing changes, the party doesn't show signs of unity or moral fortitude.

I am not saying a government shutdown is ideal mind you, it would hurt a lot of people in the short term, especially at Christmas, but you know what? The way things are is hurting a lot of people too, and those effects are a little more long term, a line needs to be drawn and now is a great time to draw it.

But they won't.
