A positive thing

I've been pretty negative of late, and not without good reason i think, but that isn't to say I am totally without hope. In general I think that if we survive this with any form of democracy then things will become much better for everyone in the long run, that short run though...

On an unrelated note I think it is cool that we have such a huge entertainment industry, yes I know the various mediums are overly dominated by corporations and are largely sexist and so on, but I feel like hope fur us as a species can't be all lost if we put a significant portion of our resources into entertaining people. We live in a world where some people get to say "I have a story to tell, give me the GNP of  a small nation and I will tell it to the world", and that actually happens, yes I knw it isn't practical, but survival isn't the only thing, we never overtly state it but as a society and a species we value fun almost as high as we value living, and we reward those who provide us with fun commensurately. Yes yes, capitalism bad I know, but I still think it is admirable that we play.

The desire to make others laugh, or to dance, or otherwise be amused is perhaps one of the more redeeming qualities we have as a species and it should be celebrated.
