On killing the ACA

In the closing months of 2016, Paul Ryan opened a phone line to collect stories about Obamacare, presumably with the hope of finding a massive amount of negative ones and support for eliminating the programs involved with the ACA. This was promptly shared around on social media in hopes of provoking people to share their positive experiences, the idea being that if there is overwhelming support for the programs then congress would not move to kill it. It was a noble goal and a great example of participatory democracy in action and also completely fucking idiotic.

Seriously, did anyone pay attention to the last eight fucking years? Anyone at all? The one thing, the only thing that has united the Republicans is their determination to see any legacy of president Obama crushed or reversed as soon as possible. Did anyone think that they would suddenly reverse that trend just because the people want them too? They don't answer to the people and haven't in a long time, they answer to their party leadership and to their gerrymandered districts full of the most backwards fucking reprobates imaginable, they care only about appeasing those two things and enjoying the benefits of a "job" that only makes them work something like half the year and puts them in a position to steal millions of dollars for their own use, and even more once they leave government service.

What the fuck did you think was going to happen?

I'll tell you what happened, Speaker Ryan has made no reference to the results of his survey that I have been able to find, fucking shocker there right? Honestly it kind of is, I figured he would just say that he had "many stories showing the damage Obamacare has wrought upon our nations most vulnerable citizens" and leave it at that, but no he has chosen to ignore it entirely, which probably means they had tons of positive stories and he wasn't able to bring out a piece of evidence he can show the world supports the GOP agenda.

And it doesn't matter in the slightest.

Even now congress is voting to strip various aspects of the ACA, and I am sure once the Toddler reaches office in a week that will accelerate. And it is clear they don't give even the slightest crap about the voice of the people.

Anyway, I called an left a message too, no it won't matter... right now, but one day people who aren't sociopaths will need to see that our leaders were ignoring what their constituents want, and indeed reality itself, and every scrap of evidence we can give those people will be a good thing. Hopefully to provide evidence for impeachment hearings or something. But if nothing else to let the civilization sifting through our ruins know that all of us weren't totally mad
