Twin Peaks 2016?

In October 2014 it was announced that Twin Peaks would return to television in 2016(later pushed back to 2017).
In February of 2015 Donald Trump did not renew his contract to appear on The Apprentice, then a few months later announced he was running for president in a uniquely bizarre way.

The whole campaign season has been a strange, otherworldly, almost grotesque experience, with unusual characters and plot twists that no one saw coming.

David Lynch is an exceptionally strange person, and the plot of Twin Peaks' continuation has not been discussed much publicly.
