Debate time

I've had a cold these last few days, so today was a sit around and do nothing day to try to get better, it appears to have more or less worked, but it doesn't generate much fodder to write about.

Tomorrow is the first Democratic primary debate, featuring Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and three other people who are technically running. I will be working but even if I wasn't I don't know if I would watch, it will be a stage full of people I largely agree with doing their best to appeal as generically as possible to as wide a variety of America as possible, and Bernie Sanders. Any one of them could win against any of the Republican field, and none of them are entertaining enough to make me sit through two hours of political talk.

I will be paying close attention to the polls however, this will be the first time Sanders and Clinton go up against each other, and there are only a handful of debates this year, a suspicious person would think the Democratic leadership is doing its best to keep Clinton out of the crosshairs until the general election, and they would be right. Sanders needs to take this opportunity to establish a clear difference between them because he won't get many more chances, and Clinton's platform has been looking more and more like his as the campaigning has gone on. Which at least means he has succeeded at getting his issues taken more seriously at a national level anyway.

Oh yeah, there are three other guys in the race too, Martin O'Malley, Lincoln Chafee, and Jim Webb are the other guys, and the only thing I can say about any of them is I think I read that Chafee wants to move America to the metric system, which I can get behind I guess. Other than that, boring old white dudes with moderate Democrat views all of them, we'll see if any distinguish themselves.

Sadly the next Republican debate is on the 28th, that is the Trailblazers season opener, which means I will have to work an be unable to liveblog it as per usual, this is kind of disappointing but is also a relief, those people terrified and saddened me and I needed a bit to recover after the last one.
