Bern it up.

In my rantings I have spent a lot of time talking about power and wealth, and how basically horrible in general those who have these things are towards those who don't, it isn't an attack  on the people involved really, but a consequence of the awful system we have right now.

From my comments, on could be forgiven for thinking I was a communist, probably due to comments about putting people up against the wall when the revolution comes, and my general distaste for the whole capitalist system, but that isn't true, historically speaking governments which claimed to do the communism thing haven't worked out too well for the common person, creating an imbalance of power remarkably similar to the one we have in runaway capitalist societies, and I am not confident in the ability of people to run such a government in the way theory says it should work, just as I believe the current system proves that capitalism as it is now can't produce positive results either.

I'm a big fan of the government having various powers increased, specifically in the areas of education, taxation, and nationalizing certain industries, so you could call me a Socialist and you wouldn't be far wrong, but I want to see more control over the government by the populace than most socialist societies have allowed, true democracy really. I honestly do like much of the American system as written, if I were in charge I would  kill the 2nd Amendment, cut back states rights provisions significantly, and take utilities and public works away from private companies, as well as do away with the abusive student loan industry and return to government backed funding being the primary source of it.

The thing is, this stuff would only work and not be abusive if people had a real voice in government's actions, these days we elect governors and senators and they presumably pursue actions their constituency wants, and the nation as a whole elects a president similarly, however with the electoral college, gerrymandering, odd term limits, and of course the ever present influence of money and the media on politics means that once in power, those there can stay for a good long time without having to pay attention to what the little people think, it doesn't work as intended is what I am saying.

Change is hard to make though, my dream stuff probably won't happen, ever, and certainly not in my lifetime, but some of it can be accomplished, there are currently two candidates running for president on a platform of reducing the influence of money on politics, and they are from opposing parties.
They are of course Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump, of the two, one is pretty much a proto-Nazi, any and all alternatives should be pursued to keep Donald out of power, he is almost certain to get us into a war and persecute minorities with even more impunity than already happens.
Grass roots change is hard, if those at the top don't want to change, and are resistant to most options that those at the bottom have, then shifting them requires someone at the top to push for the change itself, for this cycle Bernie is that person.

It would be nice to see down ticket races pushing more people like that too, but I don't know if that is going to happen anytime soon, until then, if you want change, or hell even if all you want is for us to not go to war with Iran, vote for Bernie, and use your damned right to vote! If you exclude yourself from the political process you are literally saying that you want zero power of your fate, no your vote isn't worth much, but it is worth more than zero, and as I have said before there are kind of  a lot of us out there, it does add up.
