Distractions

Every so often I see a post on my wall about how we shouldn't be distracted by whatever stupid thing president orange baby has said or done recently, and how it is merely diverting attention from the shady doings of Steve Bannon, or the Senate, or Mike Pence, or whatever. To this I say: FAAARRRT.

Just like with anything, we can, and do, pay attention to many different things at once. You have something terrifying Bannon said? Fucking post it and talk about it, don't go telling everyone they are easily led sheep for paying attention to the other terrifying things being said as well. Every last one of these pieces of shit in power right now are worth paying attention to, and just coincidentally, it appears that they are all getting their scrutiny.

Anyway, this Russia thing has legs, the latest is of course Jeff Sessions recusing himself from any investigation into Russian involvement with the Trump campaign and the election, now this doesn't mean he admits to any wrongdoing, nor does it mean there actually is an investigation happening, though odds of that increase every day it seems, but it does mean that he won't be the one heading up the investigation, at least, not at the moment. I do not know if you can "un-recuse" yourself, but I imagine The Toddler is attempting to get him to do so right now.

Speaking of, he has decided the best way to distract attention is to randomly accuse Barack Obama of ordering wiretaps of the Trump Tower during the campaign, in this he shows exceptional naivete in that he is surprised he might have been spied on, let me back up, first there is no evidence thus far that this is true, and, as Obama supporters point out, the White House doesn't control Department of Justice decisions on who to spy on and how, to avoid precisely the situation The Toddler claims happened.

This is funny to me, if it happened, there is virtually no way Obama wouldn't have been aware of it, and if he wanted it to happen, there is virtually no way it wouldn't have. What amuses me is that people would be in any way surprised if it is true, and that people think he would have left evidence of ordering it in the first place.

Personally I don't think the president had anything to do with any hypothetical wiretapping of the Trump Tower, however there is apparently at least one active investigation into the Trump organization under the aegis of the FBI, and they certainly could have been tapping phones, as president it is entirely possible The Toddler found out about it somehow, the thing is, if he did, he now is sharing information about an active FBI investigation to the world, and using the office of the presidency to specifically hinder investigations into companies he nominally should have divested from when he became president.

Which I suspect might be frowned upon more than a little in a few circles.

I've written before about how surprised I am when people are shocked to discover that our country is spying on it's citizens, like, duh, what do you expect when you give enormous shady organizations huge budgets, wide ranging responsibilities, and as little oversight as possible? I assumed the CIA, NSA, or whoever have been tapping the conversations of anyone and everyone they can since they developed the technology to do so, and I can't imagine how it comes as as surprise to anyone when it comes to light that it happens, I mean it shouldn't outside of proper legal channels, and when we do discover it those responsible should be punished, but come on folks, it totally does and for these agencies a slap on the wrist or the resignation of a mid ranking bureaucrat is a small price to pay for omniscience.

The idea that The Toddler falls victim to the same set of assumptions is hilarious to me, especially as I know that he will be doing the exact same thing to his political opponents as soon as he can convince one of our intelligence agencies to share what they know with him.

I can't decide if want the Russia thing to bring down this administration, or if I want it to be evidence of something completely different discovered during the surveillance mentioned above.

Hopefully we will find out.
