Reading and Travel, or: Shilling for Friends

I've said a couple times in this space that the best way to support your friends when they have skills is to pay them for them. I hold that opinion still, but the second best way to support your friends is to tell everyone else about them.

I've written about Karl before in this space, his story Towers is still available in both electronic and paper form and really should be something you pick up if you are at all interested in sci-fi, giant monsters, love stories, or any combination of the above, I've read some of his other stuff but it is as yet unpublished/unfinished and as thus far he refuses to send me every draft of the things he writes I am forced to wait for now. But did you know he is also a publisher? That's right, he and my best friend Whitney have partnered to form Excession Press, which seeks to bring more good stuff into the world for us to read, a noble goal to be sure. So keep an eye on their site, follow them on your social media of choice, buy stuff when it comes out, trust that they know what they are talking about when they say something is worth reading.


Another person who I haven't talked up is my mother-in-law Rosalie, she is a Disney Academy Travel Affiliate. And as such can make your life a lot easier if you ever plan on visiting one of their parks or cruises or tours or god knows what else they do.
I personally look upon Disney with a certain amount of distrust, mostly as a knee-jerk reaction to consumerism and mega-corporations, but... I still see all the Marvel films every year, and a fair bit of their other stuff besides, and until the revolution comes there is something to be said for having as much fun as you can and as much as you may love Disney or it's properties, Rosalie loves them more and more importantly knows them better than you, I am not talking about movie trivia mind you, I mean specific details about the parks, features, and amenities that can make a trip infinitely easier and more entertaining without bankrupting you, again, trust experts.
