I dunno folks, I don't really have anything on my mind today, I am pretty pooped which is my own fault on account of sleeping incorrectly.
I've been reading a lot of the fallout over the shutdown ending and I guess I ran into a couple of things there, the first thing I noticed are a series of statements from the administration claiming that they are still going to fight for a wall, but mysteriously the definition of wall has changed again, while originally it was a giant concrete barrier stretching from sea to shining sea, then it became a steel bollard fence or whatever, now it is just some sort of barrier over areas identified by border patrol as "high risk", which basically means what we have now, betcha the next funding bill passes with a bit of extra funds to border security earmarked for "barrier upgrades" or something.
Oh, speaking of Border Patrol, I guess they are having a really hard time finding employees, being a few thousand below the desired staffing level, apparently turnover is really high, which makes me feel fairly optimistic about the average American not wanting to straight up join the gestapo or something.
Anyway, the other thing I see is comments from the left claiming Nancy Pelosi is stealing the credit from the air traffic controllers for breaking the shutdown. There is a little truth to that, the ATC folks did pretty make things pretty rough at LaGuardia with a massive amount of call ins, and basically the next day the president gave in. It is likely true that their pressure had a lot to do with the timing, but without Pelosi or someone like her in the House I don't think that the democrats would have remained united for long enough that that pressure could actually do anything otherwise. There is enough credit to go around is what I am saying. With the caveat that employees willing to risk their livelihoods are by definition more courageous that a politician, even one doing a good thing.
That's all I got tonight, sleep well, I'll most likely kill you in the morning.

Long story short: the past two years have been one giant clusterfuck. I hate to say it, but the people who died in 2016 (Muhammad Ali, Carrie Fisher, etc) were the lucky ones.
