A work experience

Work was shit today, as it is all days, the new thing is for at least one, usually two, of the evening shift workers call out sick, this would suck but be doable once or if they gave us a few hours notice so we can find replacements, but it is going on a full week now and I had to work thirteen hours yesterday because of it, today was a modest nine, so that is improvement anyway.

Anyway we had a prank caller! I didn't even know that was still a thing but that had some sort of caller ID spoofer and spent five minutes or so being weird to me on the phone, I didn't realize it was a prank at first, the first call was some guy with an amazingly fake Indian(I think) accent who seemed to be reading from a script asking me about a job posting on the internet. he was talking over me and never shut up so I was comfortable hanging up on him, a minute later I get a call from a dude who really wanted to give him some bread crumbs, because he "Has the stovetop hamburger helper casserole  all ready to go and it just needs some crispy topping", he was quite insistent and became irate when I told him we didn't, because we don't, we don't have breadcrumbs of any sort. I eventually figured out this was stupid and hung up on him too, then I swore loudly in a store with customers in it who I then apologized to. The third call came in shortly thereafter and was a clearly fake attempt to order a pizza, with another clearly fake accent, it had dawned on me by this time and I hung up pretty quickly on this one.

Sounds funny right? And it is, but here's the thing folks, don't fuckin' do this, I had a shitload of work I coulda been doing but instead I was on the phone dealing with that oddness. Every time I touch the phone I have to wash my hands before I can do anything involving food or dishes, and people, 90% of restaurant work involves those things.

That said after I calmed down it did help me deal with the rest of the night a little better, some plain absurdity helps now and again I guess.

That's all I got tonight, I work a day shift tomorrow which is cool, but I give it fifty/fifty odds that I end up having to close because a manager calls in so there is that to look forward to, I need to go to bed.
