You know what I don't understand? People getting stressed out about Facebook, every so often I see someone on my feed give the message "Quitting Facebook in a couple weeks, message me if you want contact info"
Now obviously I am not talking about those who quit because of stalkers or other forms of harassment, I can totally understand wanting to avoid that crap. But I have never been clear on how people who aren't experiencing that are having such a horrible experience, are they using it differently than I do?
I use it as a news feed basically, one that tells me what my friends are up to, I also use it to get into fights with strangers on the internet once in a while, though that has dropped off of late. Sometimes I create an event that no one comes to. Messenger keeps me in contact with a few friends who don't live in town anymore and that is about all I got.
They make changes to the algorithm periodically and that is usually irritating, but in general the experience has remained the same for the seven or so odd years I have been on it.
What is getting to people that I am not seeing?
Now I want to be clear, I don't really care if someone uses the service or not, that would be weird, but I am curious because the best reason I can determine is that it "stresses people out" and I don't get how. Are they finding themselves manically refreshing their feed instead of sleeping? Are they bothered by seeing the news? Do they just hate the idea of a company knowing what they do on the internet? All valid options I guess, though if it's the last I hate to break it to you but quitting Facebook isn't going to stop a company from knowing what you do on the internet.
I dunno, I guess it's just a thing, doesn't really matter anyway.
