I was gonna work a longish day shift today, about 11-8, afterwards I was going to go see Whitney and Karl, who are in town for the holiday and who I haven't seen in about a year. On my way to work I skidded on a patch of ice and had to bounce off of a curb, it scratched my hubcap and turned the check engine light on, so that was a good start.
Then two closers called in sick, including the closing manager, so I got to work a twelve+ hour day instead, and did not get to see my friends. I couldn't even complain to my boss because her brother literally died last night unexpectedly, so we are trying to give them some space for a minute.
So the day has been pretty fucked basically.
You know, I technically support being able to call off work when you need to, hell even when you really really want to, your stupid pizza job shouldn't be the primary focus of your life. However one person fucking off for a day can pretty much ruin the evening of a bunch of others, like it did today, turns out the day after Christmas is pretty much impossible to find replacements.
I had a big rant planned about how labor organizing can help prevent just these situations, plus you know, paying more, but my feet hurt and I am tired so just assume there was a big socialist/pro-union rant here, I've said it before at various points so you get the idea.
I'm going to bed.
