Hello everyone!
My name is Zach and I may be posting things every so often, a lot creative writing and poetry but I'm sure the occasional rant. thanks for having me. I'll start this with a Poem I recently created for a program I'm currently finishing up, the Oregon Writing Project.
Freedom of Speech
Jews control the banks
Black Lives Matter are thugs and criminals
The only good Muslim is a dead Muslim
At what point does speech become action?
We have these things
We call them the Bill of Rights, and they’re alright
I mean they work
Kinda
Our skin is white and they work pretty well
My brown and black friends… maybe not so much
For many in the later half of the 20th century these rights started to look real good
Supreme Court action
Civil legislation that hopefully gave teeth to these stately promises
But even now they’re more bark than bite
So when you prop up hate speech and run to the First
excuse my chuckle
my eye rolling
It shouldn’t be funny that your march to thwart “white genocide” come with police escort
and a free bus ride
When black activists demand radical change they get a different kind of escort.
Go radical enough
push against a broken system
They might become the victim of state assassination
or spend their later years in Cuba
People make counter claims to your rhetoric, “Well you can’t yell fire in a theater!”
You also can’t yell, “I can’t breathe” when you're being choked.
Where was Eric Garner’s freedom of speech?
Dylann Roof got to speak though
and type
and then shoot
Hell he got freedom of Burger King
At what point are words weapons?
I hear a lot of armchair patriots say, “freedom isn’t free”
You’re so right but in all the wrong ways
I heard a young woman was recently held accountable for a suicide
texting her boyfriend to kill himself…
I’m still waiting on that court order against the FBI
for that letter they sent to Dr. King.
