There is a modest but growing push for congress to bring articles of impeachment against The Toddler, and while it is quite likely to happen if things keep going as they do, it might not actually be the best thing, from a coldly practical perspective at least.
Let's consider, at this point the president and his supporters are facing a downward slide in the polls, yes his core devotees still remain but he didn't win election with those alone, and the pressure on Republican congressmen is growing to distance themselves from many of his policies, the ongoing and unceasing disaster that is the various Russia probes certainly are doing no favors either of course. I don't realistically think there are enough Republicans with spines to permit impeachment to occur right now, but after the midterms that might just change.
There is a school of thought that is not without merit that says we should remove him from office as soon as possible, before he can do anymore damage to the country and the world, a new war is certainly not off the table with The Toddler currently in charge, but politically speaking it might not be the smartest move, assuming we don't all die of course.
Keeping him in a visible position that damages the GOP might end up being more useful in the long run, I mean, if he gets removed the party can distance themselves from him and do their best to pretend he never existed, perhaps undo some of the lighter damage he had done and make it look like they are actual moderates with a plan that includes all of America, this despite them being only marginally better than the man they removed, and then of course there is Mike Pence, a wannabe theocratic dictator with an absurd lack of competence combined with the appearance of professionalism, the party would gladly organize around that pearl, and he wouldn't spend most of his time on vacation or acting at cross purposes to his own party, oh no.
To my mind, the best result is losing the Senate and possibly the house in the midterms, then impeachment proceedings that resolve themselves just after the RNC in the summer of 2020.
Of course, I can say that, I am not a member of a vulnerable population, assuming we aren't all killed in nuclear fire my life will go on much the same as it has no matter who is president, the question is would Pence be any less of a threat to minorities of all varieties? That answer is unclear except in the case of LGBT folks, which would absolutely be under a vicious attack as soon as he reached the office if his history is anything to go by.
The point is we should be careful what we wish for, and how we wish for it. It isn't as simple as drawing up articles of impeachment, and even if it were, timing should be considered strongly.
