The Militia and racism

So the militia folks may or may not be racist, it hasn't really come up, I am willing to guess they aren't champions of equality but whatever. The response to their shenanigans seems to be though.

Honestly, I feel like we don't need another Waco and the authorities are handling things correctly, basically starving them out, it is cold as shit out there, it isn't fire season, they don't have anything anyone else needs urgently, let them sit without water, power, or fresh food until they give up, then arrest them when they come out, that way they suffer through a cold winter without enough supplies, then face the law afterwards anyway, it appeals to my sense of justice.

Of course, that implies anyone will be arrested, currently there are no known arrest warrants for the militia idiots, and the local authorities have refused to say whether or not they would issue one or what, if any charges they would bring against them, this would entirely be in line with the response to the cattle showdown with Cliven Bundy a couple years ago, and yes it is his sons that are involved with the current business, pretty sure they were encouraged by their earlier victory.

Now I am not a lawyer so I can't really say what laws they are breaking exactly but I suspect that in most situations if the words "ready to kill or be killed" come up, there is probably something illegal going on and you should face consequences for whatever actions you are committing.

So right now my only problem is with hypotheticals at this point, so why did I bring up racism earlier? Oh you know why, we see massively overwhelming force used by law enforcement every day against minorities and the poor and the organizations involved don't seem to care too much about public perception at that point, it's only when privileged douchebags decide to act up when law enforcement remembers things like civil rights.

Tamir Rice was killed with no hesitation for holding a toy gun in the presence of a cop car, these guys don't even have use of force threatened against them, and let's be clear, I am not saying we should be threatening them, I don't want to see a massacre, but I want to see the same restraint applied to all members of society, but it seems you have to be at least moderately wealthy, well armed, white, and in a group for that to work.

Don't think race is a factor? Then let's see how the authorities react to a group of black people engaging in armed protest, I bet they all lived happily ever after right? Well no of course not, my question was rhetorical, haha almost all of them died.
That incident, thirty years ago in Philadelphia, is not an exact parallel to this on today, but they were a militant group that denied government authority and resisted eviction, they were shot and firebombed by the police, and eleven people, five of whom were kids, died.

We don't see many home grown minority groups going out and building a bunker, or seizing government property, or refusing to pay fees owed the government for use of land, and we especially don't see minority groups talk about how they will shoot cops to defend themselves, and this is because, no matter how extreme their views, how militant they are, they grew up in the United States and know damn well how they would be treated if they did such a thing. They learn it in countless little ways from the day they are born to the day they get shot dead in the street.

People like the Bundy's learn the same lessons though, but with rather a different application, they learn that they are protected an special the government they rail against is set up explicitly to protect them and their feelings and they don't really internalize that, they know they can get away with virtually whatever they want, but they don't know why, they just think the power of the Lord or their inherent righteousness keeps them safe and successful, despite interference from The Man.

I would love to be proven wrong about this, but I won't, these guys will likely get off with nothing more than a couple weeks discomfort during their impromptu camping trip, and if a group composed of anything but affluent white guys tries it, they will be killed, I can only hope there is a serious outcry if it does happen.
