Sarah Palin out of fucking nowhere.

So Sarah Palin is back in the public eye endorsing Donal Trump during a fifteen minute speech that did a great job of reminding us all why we as a country attempted to banish her back to the frozen north, by the end of it even Trump himself had the expression of someone who knows he just killed his general election chances.

Have you heard it? Can you bear to listen? I couldn't, Palin is possibly the only person less charismatic than Ted Cruz, and her voice makes me want to kill myself here's the transcript though, it's a tough read, your brain just wants to stop processing words after about a sentence. I have one choice quote, from around the middle of the speech:

“Well, he being the only one who’s been willing, he’s got the guts to wear the issues that need to be spoken about and debate on his sleeve, where the rest of some of these establishment candidates, they just wanted to duck and hide. They didn’t want to talk about these issue until he brought ‘em up. In fact, they’ve been wearing a, this, political correctness kind of like a suicide vest. And enough is enough. These issues that Donald Trump talks about had to be debated. And he brought them to the forefront. And that’s why we are where we are today with good discussion. A good, heated, and very competitive primary is where we are. And now though, to be lectured that, “Well, you guys are all sounding kind of angry,” is what we’re hearing from the establishment. Doggone right we’re angry! Justifiably so! Yes! You know, they stomp on our neck, and then they tell us, “Just chill, okay just relax.” Well, look, we are mad, and we’ve been had. They need to get used to it.

Well, he is being the only one who's been willing, he's got the guts to wear the issues that need to be spoken about and debate on his sleeve.

Wearing this, political correctness like a suicide vest.

She may be the craziest person involved with this, or indeed any modern presidential race. Her selection as VP by John McCain in 2008 may very well have been the difference in the election, she is that weird and unlikable.

But I think her insanity took everyone by surprise, some backstory first, she started her political career as a small town mayor, and by most reports did a pretty decent job of it, barring a conflict over an athletic center, she then rose through various positions of responsibility, handling them competently, for a party line Republican at least, until being elected governor of Alaska in 2006, she was a pretty typical fiscal and social conservative from what I gather, cutting budgets all over the place, and to her credit, refusing pay raises and being relatively frugal with the expenses of the office.
Her time as governor was marked by some problems at the national level  though, specifically fighting for funding over the "Bridge to Nowhere". She had a couple of investigations for improper use of power, but nothing ever came of it and they were pretty minor comparatively anyway.

Then for some reason the McCain campaign thought she would make a good VP, and on paper it seemed reasonable, he approval ratings were pretty good, she had a bit of a rep as an up and comer and fiscal conservative who didn't shy away from confrontation, a Vice President is often used as the hatchetman of the office, being the bad guy and pushing in situations where the President can't be seen to be so confrontational. The problem of course became clear when she started speaking at the national level.

She is absolutely bugfuck insane, she has no idea how to speak publicly, and when the Tea Party became a national thin she ate that ideology up and became the face of it, after the campaign she resigned as governor and became a paid talking head for Fox News and later, her own network.

And here she is now, supporting the shiniest individual in the race kind of out of left field, I don't know if she is in it for the long term, if this is a one and done speech it might work out well for the Donald, but if she's in for the long haul, or heaven help us, as a VP candidate, this basically ensures eight years of Democrats in the White House, she's burned a lot of bridges with the less insane Republicans, and her name is dirt to anyone outside the Tea Party wingnuts, her endorsement very well may have won Trump the primary though, since the wingnuts are all this election is about.

Gonna tank Ted Cruz which is nice, see, he is on record having called Palin someone who "Picks winners" and her picking Trump has some implications which the campaign is certain to pay attention to.

It's hard to critique Palin effectively without just pointing at her speeches and shouting "Look!" until I pass out from lack of oxygen, I mean, look at that word salad I posted earlier, how can you start a comprehensive analysis of that? And it is worse than it looks, most speakers build pauses into their speeches to allow a point to sink in, or for applause to happen, she doesn't and rarely has, it is just this fragmented stream of consciousness rambling that is literally painful to listen to for long, but has so little substance outside of the occasional outrageous lie that you can't pick points to rebut.

I don't know guys, this election just keeps getting weirder, maybe this year they will actually pull out hologram Reagan at the RNC, that is about the only thing I can think of to make it more bizarre.
