Horrible

So Zena has decided Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog is the thing she wants to listen to to pass the time while she gets better over the last day or two, which I don't mind, it's god entertainment.

But listening to it now I can't help but notice how horrible(heh) basically everybody is in the thing, now obviously we are intended to root for the Dr. and against Captain Hammer, but more and more I ask myself why? Hammer is shitty and entitled sure, but Horrible has that stupid "nice guy" attitude and seems to think that since he isn't the worst person in the world he deserves everything he wants, including the girl, who doesn't ever seem to get a say in the whole process.

Also he wants to join an organization called the Evil League of Evil, and doesn't seem to see anything wrong with that.

I wouldn't really have a problem with this if it was intended, but it is not clear to me that Joss Whedon actually did intend it when he wrote the script, which means that he expected his audience to identify with what are some actually pretty horrible views, intended or not, he was right though.

Fandom loves Dr. Horrible, and the idea that anything he does is worth emulating is kinda creepy really, I mean, he pines after a girl, refuses to ever actually you know, tell her that, gets all pissed off when she dates someone else, decides that she'll love him if he kills her boyfriend, fucks that up and kills her.

I love the show, but I hate the fans, and I don't think they ever actually think it through, it's another excuse to hate on jocks and wear goggles at a convention, like they need another one.
