Happy New Year!

Last year was okay, a distinct improvement over 2014 which, for me, sucked balls for reasons I can no longer adequately explain.

This year I have a job again, a relatively crappy job but one I enjoy usually at least, I'm also out of debt, which is a nice change. In general I am happier and more motivated than I have been in a while. I learned to cook a turkey and did a pretty good job of it for Thanksgiving, dropped a pants size, although since one of my Christmas gifts was a pound of pear flavored jelly beans, I am doing my best to undo that achievement, and in general made steps, not strides, but steps at least, towards improving my lot in life while at the same time accepting that I am not a bad person or a complete failure for needing to improve my lot. Also, I got a couple teeth fixed, and next week will finish the last of the worst offenders in my mouth.

In general, it seems the world is slightly better than it was a year ago, gay marriage is legal in America, there is major movement on climate change, Iran probably won't be the cause of a third world war, and the Republican party is still melting down gloriously.

Favorite movie from last year: Mad Max: Fury Road
Favorite TV Show: Jessica Jones
Favorite Novel: The Aeronauts Windlass, by Jim Butcher
Favorite video game: Fallout 4

For next year I have goals, not resolutions, I do not care for resolutions and they are failed more often than not, but things I want to do include:

Finally getting my damn drivers license.
Finding a new job, either move up in my current company or move out to better pay and more authority elsewhere.
Save for moving out.
Learn to cook more stuff.

Modest goals to be sure, but probably achievable with a whole year to do it in.

I hope everyone else had a safe and fun evening, and wish you all the best for next year, man, 2016. You realize we live in the future right? It's neat.
