TRUMP

He seems intent on turning himself into exactly Hitler, it's really strange how he, his staff, and his supporters all seem completely ignorant of history here. Or if they do know it, they seem to be taking that era of history and looking for ideas in all the wrong places, one of his supporters said that Trumps ideas aren't any different from "when we put the  Japanese in camps" as if that was anything other than one of the most shamefully racist actions our government took in the 20th century.

The way these people ignore or rewrite history just boggles my mind. But at the same time it gives me hope, see, the man is a narcissist, he will say anything if the crowd cheers him an he gets more Twitter followers, but those people at the rallies, and those following him on social media, are a very small, if vocal, portion of the population and not representative of the country as a whole.

Trump's need to feed the beast that is his crowd is his undoing, there are too many sound bites of him being horrible out there for him to ever become a palatable candidate in the general election, even to the Republican establishment guys, they are desperately tying to get anyone but Trump in the public eye, but as I've said before, the monster they have created is almost completely out of control, it's terrifying, hilarious, and awesome, and man I hope it stops soon.

See, the thing about people is we are pretty damned stupid as a group, we react pretty predictably as a society when we are scared, we saw this when we interned the Japanese after Pearl Harbor, violating both law and the spirit in which our constitution was written, and we saw it again after 9/11 we don't like to admit it, but Iraq War II had a lot of popular support at the start, and was supported by something like 90% of our elected representatives as well.

The San Bernardino shooting is responsible for Trump's latest surge in popularity, as well as his new escalation in racist screeching. I do fear another 9/11 would ensure his election on the wings of a scared populace looking for a leader who promises to hurt those who hurt us, and Trump has promised to hurt everyone and everything.

He isn't funny anymore though, as hilarious as his statements seem at first, even if he has no chance in the general election barring unlikely circumstances, his followers are energized and quite violent, rhetoric from our candidates is already directly responsible for one mass shooting, and his followers might be capable of a great deal more when they don't get their way.

Basically there is a large and vocal mass of shithead racists out there that I fully expect to get violent before long, and especially if Trump loses the nomination. But there also aren't as many of them as we might fear, and as long as we take care not to give into fear and join them, I think it will be okay.
