A train!

I was on my way to work today on the bus, I was soaked as I had been outside for more than five seconds and quite cold, then we have to stop at the train tracks for an actual train, I was bummed, figuring here comes five to ten minutes of  sitting here, but then...

Did you  know that the Oregon Rail Heritage
Foundation maintains and runs an old steam locomotive during the holiday season? I didn't until today, it looks a bit like this:

It was emerging from the haze of rain and a cloud of its own steam, and I don't know why but it really hit me as something kind of amazing, I am not a train guy, but at that moment, in those conditions, seeing that brought a sense of... I don't really want to say awe, but sort of like that, and peace to me that I don't recall being hit with before.

I don't know why it effected me the way it did, and I sort of don't want to think about it too hard either, It was just the right thing for that moment and a moment  of beauty in an otherwise grey and mundane day.

I think I am doing a bad job of explaining this, but seeing it just felt right, and on a day like today, in a time like ours, those moments are worth treasuring.
