Post-debate

It seems to have gone about as I had anticipated, assuming the coverage I read is anything to go by, no one embarrassed themselves that much, except Jim Webb, who seems to be operating on the assumption that he is a real candidate and expected the same amount of speaking time as the frontrunners.

There does seem to be a disconnect in who won the debate, apparently CNN's live polling during the event showed Sanders getting more positive reactions, and Sanders also gained a rather large number of Twitter followers during and after the debate, which at least means he got more exposure than the other candidates, yet most articles I have read say that Clinton took it home, and from what I can tell she certainly did well, although Sanders did bail her out by being acerbic about the email controversy, which I felt was a good move.

In an unrelated note, the parent company of CNN, Time Warner, is also one of the larger donors to Clinton's SuperPAC, I am not saying the two things are linked, but ya know, I totally am.

We'll know a lot more as polls come in over the next couple days, the problem is that with the media narrative being that Clinton won, that is what people might tend to remember when they get the phone calls for the polling, so I am not sure how representative that will be.

I will say this though, and I am not unique in saying it, every single person on that stage showed more humanity than any of the Republican candidates, they showed empathy and actually seemed to care about the humans they say they want to represent, they also avoided being massively, horribly racist, and they didn't threaten to bomb every other country in the world. The Republican debate terrified me, the Democrat debate aftermath gives me a little hope, so that is nice.
