This is part two of my posts written in advance so some of this might have changed before it goes up at around one or two AM Sunday morning, I very much doubt I will have the energy to edit much when I get home.
So I was totally right when I said the story of the Pope meeting with Kim Davis sounded like BS, and that is because it pretty much was!
The meeting did indeed occur, but it was not a secret audience, they got in line like everyone else, and the Vatican did not apparently request the meeting, rather it was arranged by one Archbishop ViganĂ², who had previously met Mat Staver, Davis' lawyer, at an anti-gay marriage rally over the summer.
Per the article above, the meeting was brief, and one of dozens Francis had that day, he had only one formal audience, and that one was with an ex-student of his, and that students friends, including his boyfriend of 19 years.
I suspect there may be a bit of covering their asses from the Vatican on this, but perhaps not that much, why would they make so much effort to distance themselves from Kim Davis if the Pope was a supporter? I am not saying that after the upcoming synod we are going to hear a dramatic change in doctrine regarding homosexuals, but it does appear that at least some element of church leadership, supported by Francis, wants to distance themselves from the anti-gay component in their organization at least.
All in all, pretty good news I think, Staver is denying everything of course, but he is a liar and a bigot so screw him.
