Oh lord, so much...
Tonight was not a fun time for me, mostly I was terrified and sad.
Republican Primary Debate number two kicked off, held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library directly in front of the plane that served as Air Force One for his time in office. Where he alive, and able to form coherent sentences today, Reagan would not recognize his party, these people are only a step away from literal Fascism, and I mean that with no hyperbole.
Today we saw 15 Republican candidates express opinions like invading Syria and Iraq, again, throwing peace treaties out the window, evicting eleven million people from the country, establishing Christianity as the state religion, and building up our armed forces and nuclear weapons stockpile and building up troops on the borders of Russia while at the same time cutting off diplomatic contacts with them.
Also gutting Planned Parenthood, Marriage equality, the tax code, basically think of a position, any position, then think of the exact worst thing possible that could be done to it, it was proposed and cheered tonight.
They also showed a fantastic and willful lack of knowledge of the basic rules of government, the Supreme Court specifically, and not a single iota of thought that they might be wrong or have something to learn from anybody.
JEB said he wanted Margaret Thatcher on the ten dollar bill.
They all vigorously oppose unions, labor protections, and most of them don't want a minimum wage at all.
From the first debate we learned that they think Americans have too much freedom with regards to telecommunications and the internet, and also that they are totally cool with torturing folks, Ben Carson specifically said "I want the option, and I don't want anyone else to know we are doing it".
They all nudged up to the anti-vaccine line.
They are all for states rights, except when the state exercises its right to do something they don't like, such as smoke weed, or not shit on illegal immigrants.
Any one of these... things would be a disaster for the entire world if they were elected, and there are fifteen of them.
Please vote this election, and talk about the election, talk about it constantly because these opinions will be mysteriously forgotten by the time the general election campaign begins, and what we are hearing right now is what the candidates truly believe, they will need to moderate a bit come the general, and will dodge references to these debates.
If you know someone who wants to vote for Trump, ironically or otherwise, educate them, call them out at every turn no matter who they choose.
Vote Democrat, because if we don't win this next one it might quite literally destroy us, I don't mean our political system, I mean the country itself.
