I have a creative post title today, but it gets the point across.
I am loving this campaign season, but it occurs to me that one can get swept up in the ridiculousness and not realize just how objectively terrible the people we are watching and laughing at are, and understand me, they are among the worst people to seek power in history, and if any of them get in it will lead directly to massive loss of life and catastrophically reduced living conditions for millions of people the world over.
Well, except maybe John Kasich, who would simply be a crappy president, Ben Carson, who is pretty much an idiot, and Carly Fiorina, who outside of being terrible at business, has very few other standout qualities at all.
Donald Trump has expressed a desire to evict all illegal immigrants from the country, if allowed to do so that means eleven million people get forcibly detained and deported with no recourse, their property seized, and dumped back into Mexico with no provisions for their well-being when they get there.
Mike Huckabee suggested today that we should avoid taking Syrian refugees, as they flee violence largely caused by American policies, because "Are they really escaping tyranny, are they escaping poverty, or are they really just coming because we've got cable TV?"
No Mr. Fuckabee, they are coming because they might die if they stay.
This is a man who also opposes abortions under all circumstances, including in the case of a ten year old girl raped by her stepfather.
Ted Cruz would be a nihilist except he cares about power too much, he is the one largely responsible for the government shutdown a couple years back, and has hitched his wagon firmly to the Tea Parties most fringe elements. He does not care about the effective running of government, he cares about being in charge and will do anything, literally anything, to get and keep power.
Bobby Jindal supports revoking portions of the 14th Amendment that made it possible for him to be born a US citizen and run for president. He presided over the utter collapse of Louisiana's economy, and, like most candidates here, would rather women or the poor die before receiving health care.
Lindsey Graham is possibly the greatest advocate for undoing the separation of Church and State among the party, under his control, he will persecute anyone and everyone he decides are not christian enough.
Scott Walker is firmly in the pocket of the Koch brothers, and hates unions and worker protections more than any other man alive.
Rand Paul may be the worst economist in the world, which makes sense as he is an Ophthalmologist and the son of noted crazy Libertarian Ron Paul, and not actually trained as an economist in any way. You'll love him if you are rich and have no morals, otherwise, nah.
JEB! Will bring us to war with Iran, and possibly Iraq again, he lives firmly under the shadow of the other members of his family, and it is increasingly clear that George was the smart brother.
I am bored listing candidates now, suffice it to say they are all reprehensible, they do share some similarities:
They all are perfectly happy to follow Israel's lead in the Middle East, and Israel has not been showing itself as a trustworthy and responsible partner whose diplomatic tactics should be emulated.
They are terrified of gender nonconformity, and will absolutely weaken or destroy any protections people belonging to those groups have managed to wring out of American society over the last couple decades.
They are pretty scared of women too, or at least women who have a say in basically anything about their lives.
Also minorities, according to them racism is dead and anyone complaining now is probably a "thug" or illegal immigrant and deserve to be shot on sight.
They are a party of hate and have no redeeming qualities whatsoever, so as you join me in being entertained over the next few months, don't be drawn in to actually liking them, they deserve only scorn and should be opposed at every turn in all things.
