Trump 2: Trump Harder

So my favorite politician of this election cycle has been on a roll recently, (sorry Bernie, I'll vote for you but you are not nearly as entertaining), he's been given speeches and interviews basically every day, spent today at the Iowa State Fair giving children helicopter rides, of all things, and is now reporting to New York for jury duty, which he apparently has been ignoring for a while now.

Policy wise, he is kind of mutable, there is very little of substance that he has put down in writing, but in speeches so far he as advocated for spending on women's health issues (except for abortion), argued for more support for veterans, a massive tariff on companies who leave the USA to avoid taxes, and condemned the influence of billionaires on elections through the use of Super PACs and the like.

For any other Republican this would make him unelectable, but something about his complete refusal to ever shut up or back down on anything and from anyone, combined with the bases well trained inclination to support the outsider, means his support just keeps growing.

Honestly I might be tempted to like him, but for one thing, he is profoundly xenophobic and nationalistic, more so than perhaps any other candidate, and this is not a problem that can be overlooked, he doesn't simply want to withdraw from the world, like the Libertarian faction does, he wants to dominate it, and he doesn't seem to care how that is accomplished, I don't think he actually believes any other power would have the balls to actually stand up to whatever bullying he would attempt if he gets power, but I really don't want to see him try.

Historically, a politician who gets elected on a populist platform combined with xenophobia, specifically targeting a specific race hasn't really worked out too well for the world in general, and yes I am referring to Hitler here. The man is profoundly belligerent and racist and does not seem to believe in the checks and balances the government has, and honestly, why should he? The last couple decades have shown that if a president wants someone dead, then one way or another, it is going to happen, if that means a war without support of congress, well then he'll find a way.

The other candidates are all almost as terrible, and their domestic policy is explicitly worse, but Trump is the most dangerous of them all mostly because of his generally liberal leaning policies in anything other than international and race relations. Do not let this man win the presidency America, we will regret it very quickly.
