Short thoughts

It's apparently my wedding anniversary either today or tomorrow, Zena and I aren't entirely sure, we are doing well just to remember it is happening at all. We are going out to eat I think, not sure where yet.

It is cool enough that we are actually closing windows at night again, this pleases me too.

It's been a decent week all around really, I got a ton of hours at my job, working pretty closely with various bosses and folks in my chain of supervisors, with any luck leaving a good impression.

Things are still horrible in the news of course. Two men in Boston beat and urinated on a homeless Hispanic man, they were apparently inspired by Donald Trumps anti-immigrant rhetoric. For his part, Trump more or less backed them up saying "My supporters feel very strongly." So just in case you were tempted to like this guy, just think about that for a minute.

Oh yeah, we as a country are still proving that we don't deserve firearms, and the sooner all of those stupid, deadly toys are taken away the better, along with disarming the police forces that more and more, seem to be filled with cowards so scared of the people they are supposed to protect that they look for any excuse to gun them down.

I figured, with the rhetoric on that the way it is right now, departments would be emphasizing not killing suspects if they can avoid it for a while, even if for no other reason than to avoid the publicity, but that doesn't seem to be the case, either those giving the orders are almost universally unable to control their officers, or they don't give a damn and feel confident in relying on the entire horrible system designed to support them at every turn, I know which idea gets my vote.

Subway's Jared was arrested for various child pornography and pedophilia charges, I just don't get it with these people, it isn't like it is hard to avoid child porn or underage prostitutes, they almost never just fall into your lap out of the blue. The mental gymnastics these folks go through to convince themselves they aren't doing anything wrong must be mind boggling and for once I am glad I don't understand it.
